I trained as a Designer for Visual Marketing at a Munich-based company that created events as well as window displays and showrooms. So even back then, I was working with both: spaces designed to create experiences and spaces designed to sell.

Straight after completing my training, I founded my own business, anderswie, in 2007. Since then, I have been designing spaces — events, window displays, trade fair stands, offices, film set dressing and photo shoots. Over all those years, I have seen how a space can change the way people behave — how they enter, move, buy or leave.

And I learned something no moodboard or style concept can ever tell you:

Beauty is rarely the deciding factor. What matters is whether a space makes use of the potential already within it.

Often, that potential does not lie in a major transformation. It might be a sightline that leads nowhere. An entrance that does not tell you anything yet. A counter that demands attention too soon. Or an area that could actually be the strongest part of the space — but does not feel that way yet.

Two years ago, I reshaped anderswie. Not the spaces — the thinking behind them. Event design evolved into interior design, and from there into Brand Space Design.

Today, I translate between a brand’s DNA and the way it is experienced in space — looking for the places where a space could be doing more than it currently is.

My toolkit is 20 years of experience, thousands of spaces, and a trained eye for those moments when something almost feels right — but only almost. Those are often the moments I learn the most from.

My work follows a simple principle: first, we uncover the potential. Then we find the lever. Only then does the design begin.
